As an intuitive painter, my goal is to play and experiment until I get somewhere I like, and then create a product that is strong in color, line, and overall composition. When I begin a painting, I have no end goal in mind so I have no idea what the final product will look like. I find this to be the ultimate challenge.
I am inspired by the tactile sensations of pressing charcoal or crayon to paper, the look and feel of various textures of collage and paint layers, and the feeling of creating a composed piece. I enjoy the juxtaposition of neatness (in color or line) with more quietly messy areas. I want viewers to pay attention to the barely-there marks, to catch tiny glimpses at the layers underneath, and to wonder about the paintings underneath the surface.
